→ Kingdom of Clouds and Waves

“Welcome,

To the tales that are told in the kingdom of clouds and waves, a book where you will find renditions of known myths or original short stories about the world of mental health. As emotions come like waves or can cloud your mind, this kingdom is a place where poems and stories will touch on subjects through metaphors. Because as we read about heroes battling monsters with their swords, we forget that we are battling our own just the same. ‘The Kingdom of clouds and waves’ takes you on a quest to learn about mental health while still enjoying the myths and legends, hopefully finding some magic in your own story on the way.

Best of luck on your quest, dear reader.”

The introduction at the beginning of the book ‘The Kingdom of Clouds and Waves’ already said it all; a book full of mystical metaphors for mental health. Through research about the topics and using my personal experience, I want to write stories where people can feel seen and shine a light on mental issues without being too obvious. By making personifications of issues and emotions, just like the Greek myths do, I want people to come in contact with the range of emotions people feel without having to pick up a psychology book.
There are so many self help books available and so many people advocating on social media, that I think it’s good to have a different way of advocating mental health. The title and the theme of the book are clouds and waves, which the reader will see in the poems and the illustrations. I chose this because I always describe my emotions and feelings either as clouds or waves, both unpredictable but always changing and never lasting forever.
