→ Whose History

Reflecting on a moment where I felt misunderstood, I was able to start this project by researching the biases within the health care system. Researching different sources and analyzing different biology books, the lack of representation regarding the female body stood out to me. Through reading about the history of graphic design and how there was a lack of acknowledgement of women, I refl ected on the different ways of working between men and women. As female designers work more collaboratively and to be able to share knowledge, I used this to position the project within the topic of female representation in health. As the project evolved into something that stimulated collaboration and knowledge sharing between women, I connected this to the history of witches for my design as their representation mirrors feminism throughout history well. Visually through the mystical designs that I screen printed, where I incorporated the vulva within the illustrations. Next to that, I used the research about witch covens to connect my content to the four elements used in rituals; water, air, earth and fire.
