→ Spiritual Blackout

Spiritual Blackout is a drinking game, disguised as a deck of tarot cards. Over the last few years, the interest in spirituality and tarot cards grew quite a lot and the modern spiritual aesthetic became more popular as a result. Artists started to design their own cards, making people even more interested to buy tarot cards. I quite love the aesthetic that is based on fantasy and spirituality, but because of the increasing popularity, the use of it became quite saturated. Because of this, I wanted to make a deck of cards with a twist, getting inspiration from the aesthetic of tarot cards, but with the content of a drinking game. Tarot readings being quite meaningful and serious and drinking games being the total opposite, I wanted to use this combination to break away from the clichés.
The card game is based on the drinking game ‘Kings’, a game that I played a lot with my friends. You put a deck of cards in a circle around a random (sometimes disgusting) alcoholic drink and every player has to pick a card one by one. All of the cards stand for a different rule or game which everyone has to play. One of the players will eventually break the circle and has to do a bottoms up. I wanted to make a version of this, so that even looking at the card will make people smile.
